What began as an experimental project around the turn of the millennium has grown into a highly acclaimed body of work. Over the last 25 years, Joy's signature method of using dressmaker pins to attach thousands of labels onto canvas has earned her multiple selections at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and high-profile commissions, including a private collection piece for legendary designer Paul Smith.

By painstakingly unpicking, arranging, and pinning tags sourced from tons of rag garments, designer surplus, and legendary Savile Row tailors, Joy’s work bridges the gap between mass consumption and intimate individuality.
