Carrot Cake
During a visit to a local plant nursery, I stumbled across an old pine dresser overflowing with batches of every size and colour of plant and vegetable label. The glass house was full of seedlings and the labels were waiting to identify new plants. Of course, I saw an opportunity and began to source discarded plant and vegetable labels. My recent interest in vintage embroidered tablecloths also came to mind and I thought I could amalgamate the two materials; plastic throw away plant labels with precious delicate hand embroidered cloth. For thousands of years, we have shared food around a dining table and displayed vases of flowers on our decorative tablecloths, on occasions both at the same time.
