Remembering Elizabeth Bacon

The tomb of Elizabeth Bacon and her new born twins is a monumental sculpture, recognised as a form of historic funerary art. This installation makes use of over 1000 discarded begonia plant labels arranged in a contemporary cloth of flowers. Begonias are a symbol of balance, harmony and spiritual growth. They offer protection against negative energies and the promotion of inner peace; a sensitive statement and reminder of the remembrance that was placed here for Elizabeth 340 years ago (1686-2026).
