Duke of Edinburgh with Bronze Silver & Gold
Woven names tapes with dressmaker pins on canvas, 88 x 72 cm.
The Duke of Edinburgh has announced that he will be stepping down from his official royal duties in the autumn of 2017. To celebrate some of his achievements I have assembled his portrait using the names of Duke of Edinburgh Award holders at Bronze, Silver and Gold. By special invitation the portrait includes the name of Double Olympic Champion Dame Kelly Holmes (Silver Award), also well-known TV presenter Jim Rosenthal (Gold Award) and Mark Dennison presenter at BBC Radio Nottingham (Bronze Award). David Love (Gold Award) a mountaineer, expedition leader and passionate adventurer is also thrilled to have his name included in the Duke's portrait; David recently presented the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards at Buckingham Palace.
It is a pleasure to announce that the Duke of Edinburgh portrait will be exhibited in Mayfair, London at bespoke tailors Kent Haste & Lachter, 7 Sackville Street, London, W1S 3DE. John Kent (Royal Tailor) has been privileged to make trousers for HRH Duke of Edinburgh since 1966 and still holds the Royal Warrant. The tailoring team are thrilled to exhibit the Dukes portrait celebrating his contribution to The Duke of Edinburgh Award since 1956. By special invitation the portrait also includes Managing Director Stephen Lachter (Gold Award).
The window exhibition will run from Friday 1st Sept PM - Friday 29th Sept 2017 AM, to coincide with the Duke stepping down from his royal duties.
